Caloric Needs for
Adults, Kittens, Seniors, and Nursing Moms

Understanding the right caloric intake is crucial for your cat's health and wellbeing. Freeze-dried foods generally require 2:1 reconstitution. This just means add some water!

How to measure:

- Weigh your cat. (1 lb = 2.2 kg)

- Multiply cat's weight by the % body weight (above) to get daily portion as rehydrated food. (Note: This weight is WITH Water! aka "reconstituted")

- Divide the outcome by 3. (i.e. 10 lb /2.2 kg = 4.5kg; 4.5kg x 0.04 = .18 = 180g; 180g / 3 = 60g!)

- Adjust up or down based on your cat’s body shape, energy, and life stage.

Example: An active, non-spayed/neutered, 10 lb. Adult Cat (10 / 2.2 = 4.5kg; 4.5kg x 0.04 = .18 = 180g!) would be 180g of food daily! (1 lb = 2.2g)

Always rehydrate freeze-dried food and consult your vet for specific recommendations, especially for kittens, seniors, or nursing cats.
